Matchis there a button if someone is rude?

Youthree, actually. and they work

Is random video chat safe? An honest answer

Mostly, yes, and not entirely. Most conversations on EmeraldChat are ordinary: two people saying hello, trading a few stories, and moving on. A few aren't, because any place where adults meet strangers will attract some people who behave badly. Anyone who tells you a random chat is "100% safe" is selling something.

What we can promise is the tools: you're matched one-to-one, there are no group rooms, Next ends any call instantly, and Report and Block are on every call. What we can't do is control who you meet. The rest is habit, and it's the same habits that protect you anywhere online.

Random chat safety tips that actually matter

Skip the long lists. These are the ones that make a difference:

  • Keep your identity out of the frame. No mail, badges, school or work logos, and no street views from the window.
  • Treat personal details as slow-release.Full name, address, workplace and school are not first-call information.
  • Say no to moving apps.If someone pushes for your number or another account in the first few minutes, tap Next.
  • Never send money, coins or gift cards. There is no good reason a stranger needs any of them from you.
  • Stay away from links.Don't open links from someone you've just met.
  • Trust your instincts. You don't need evidence. Tap Next, and Report if rules were broken.

If you're new to this, how to talk to strangers online pairs the safety rules with openers, and talk to strangers covers the basics in plain language.

Your controls: Next, Report, Block

Three controls sit on every call, in the same place:

Next

Ends the call immediately and matches you with someone else. No explanation needed.

Report

Flags the call to our moderators when someone breaks the rules.

Block

Keeps that person out of your future matches.

Using them early costs nothing and is nothing to feel bad about. The rules you're reporting against are listed in the community guidelines.

What happens after you report someone

Reports go to our moderators with the context of the call. We look at what was reported and act on it: a warning, a temporary restriction, or removal from the service for serious or repeated problems. We can't share the outcome with the person who reported, because the other person's account is also private.

If something happened that makes you feel unsafe, don't wait for us. Contact local emergency services first, then email us at support[at]emeraldchat.vip with the date and time. Our contact page lists what to include.

Camera, microphone and connection fixes

Most "it's broken" reports come down to permissions. Work through these in order:

  1. Allow camera and microphoneClick the lock or camera icon next to the address bar and set both to Allow for emeraldchat.vip. On iPhone, check Settings → Safari → Camera and Microphone.
  2. Close other apps using the cameraVideo call apps, recorders and some browser tabs can hold the camera. Close them and reload.
  3. Switch networksIf video stutters, move closer to the router or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
  4. Try another browserSafari on iPhone, Chrome or Edge elsewhere. Update to the latest version if you can.

Still stuck? Email us with your device and browser, and we'll help. The full flow of a call is on how it works.

Coins, payments and refunds

Starting is free, and every match opens with a free stretch. Coins are only used if you keep a video call going after that, or if you send gifts. A notice appears before per-minute charging starts, and prices are shown at checkout before you pay.

If a payment went through but your coins didn't arrive, or you were charged in a way you didn't expect, email support[at]emeraldchat.vip with the date, the amount and a payment reference. We look at every request. The full rules on refunds are in the terms of service.

For parents and guardians

EmeraldChat is for adults. If you're a parent who has found it on a child's device, please remove access and talk to them about it, and email us if you'd like an account closed. A calm conversation works better than a ban: explain that strangers online can be risky, and agree what to do if something feels wrong. Anyone under 18 who has already created an account can be removed by emailing us.
